Destined: A Time Travel Anthology by Denise Alicea and JC Cooper is a collection of short stories that will make you fall in love with love. The four short stories in the collection include Fireworks, Consoling Angel, Traveler, and Destined. In Traveler, Sofie isn’t looking for love. She has no time for it. So why does William make her heart race? He makes her wish for things she never thought she would. Stubborn and tenacious, will she give love a chance? Fireworks is the story of Sarah as she tries to get over the death of her grandfather. Sarah goes to sleep thinking of her grandfather and wakes up to find a friend of his from the war in her house. But he died in WW2. How is he here? Consoling Angel is the story of Mira as she tries to bury her sadness in her studies and dreaming of James Dean. She wishes to meet him just once, but what would happen if she did? And finally, in Destined, two people fall in love but war tears them apart. As the war rages in Ireland, Branwyn is given the “gift” to live forever and meet her love Eavan in another life. But how will she find him?
All four of these stories were the perfect slice from each protagonist’s life. Both authors did a wonderful job of building the stories, keeping the suspense alive, and making sure the reader would remain glued to the plots. I am amazed at how well-crafted these stories were. The setting of each story was believable, perfect for the time period, and the characters had plenty of page space to tell their tales. I particularly enjoyed Fireworks. Sarah’s story was incredibly rich, detailed, and I enjoyed the element of surprise at the end. I’m a sucker for second chances of all kinds and Fireworks hit all the right spots for me. I loved Sophie and William’s story. William’s background was tough, he was fighting a broken heart and a broken will, but together they mended each other’s lives. I enjoyed all four of these stories.
